Fare-splitting site claims big savings on rail
A new UK rail ticket site claims it can save travellers thousands a year with a “ground-breaking” algorithm.
Launched today, Ticketclever.com uses options such as split journey tickets to offer cheaper fares than those displayed on other sites such as Trainline.com.
The site claims the best savings are found for on-the-day travel for journeys of an hour or longer. It says it can show cheaper fares than other rail ticketing websites.
Customers are able to make comparisons and choose the best fare for their needs from options including: cheapest, flexible and quickest.
Example below shows a booking for today (January 31) on Trainline and Ticketclever, London to Manchester travel after 3pm.
Trainline lists just direct services with the cheapest between 3pm and 4pm £82.90. Ticketclever shows an option with 1 change at Stafford for £57.
There is also no booking fee with Ticketclever.
The majority of Ticketclever.com fares do match other booking sites and ones such as Trainline do have options to choose ‘slower’ cheaper options but don’t include a fare-splitting service.
“In an era where the price of train travel is under scrutiny, it’s frustrating that getting the best deal on UK train journeys isn’t straightforward,” said Ticketclever CEO Jeremy Acklam. “With so many fare combinations for each journey, it’s very difficult for passengers to be certain they have a good deal. At Ticketclever we want to make rail travel simpler by transforming the process of finding and buying tickets, so it is more transparent,” he added. https://buyingbusinesstravel.com/
