PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES
PIA, the national flag carrier of Pakistan, operates scheduled services to 74 cities in 31 countries, including an extensive domestic network. PIA has completely overhauled the interiors of its fleet and infrastructure in a bid to provide quality service to its valued customers in the Business + Plus Class (International and Domestic).

International and domestic destinations are now being served by PIA with its two-class configuration, which effectively translates into First Class privileges for its Business Class passengers.

PIA's Business + Plus is the comfort zone in terms of space in the carrier's Business Class. The seat pitch on board its Boeing 747-200 and the more modern 747-300 is 58in/147cm. On the upper deck it is 52in/132cm. The Business Class has been upgraded to provide First Class seats and service to customers. The long-haul passengers in the Business + Plus enjoy personalized service, and food options (Asian and European) are being offered against backdrop of traditional eastern hospitality service. The best seats and service are provided on 747 flights.

Euro Rail passes at various European destinations and access to international Business Class Lounges are some of the privileges that are currently being offered in PIA's Business + Plus package.

As there is not much tourism to Pakistan, and as there is no alcohol served, PIA's traffic figures fall well below those of Air India. The service is efficient and clean and the food acceptable. Comfort standards are quite good. It is worth mentioning here that all domestic flights are nonsmoking flights.

PHILIPPINE AIRLINES
Philippine Airlines (PAL) began life with a noble mission: to serve as a partner in nation-building. With this in mind, PAL took to the skies on 15 March 1941, using a Beech Model 18 aircraft amid the specter of a global war. It became Asia's first airline.

Since then, PAL has become one of the most respected airlines around the world with a young and modern fleet of aircraft and a route network that spans 20 foreign cities and 18 domestic points. The airline flies out of Manila to Dhahran, Fukuoka, Hongkong, Los Angeles, Osaka, Riyadh, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo, and Xiamen.

First Class interior provides superior comfort in the sky with wide seats, generous recline, electronically controlled adjustable headrest, lumbar support, extendable leg rest and personal TV (available on all A340s and selected 747-400s). The food is an epicurean experience. As a member of the prestigious Chaine des Rotisseurs, Philippine Airlines offers a full-course feast -- from the sourcing of the freshest ingredients and meticulous preparation of dishes, to the elegant table setting and impeccable in-flight service.

Mabuhay (Business) Class cabins combine a sleek, modern interior with a palette of calm, soothing colors. Enhanced cabin features, spacious legroom, advanced seat ergonomics and personal TVs (available on all A340s and selected 747-400s). The food service offers a selection of Western, Filipino and Japanese Kaiseki dishes. Well-known culinary personalities are regularly invited as guest chefs in the airline's Food Festivals in the Sky.

Fiesta (Economy) Class has traditional and fusion cuisine. Well-known culinary personalities are also invited as guest chefs in Fiesta Class.

Frequent takeovers, changes of management, and heavy losses have not made life easy for Philippine Airlines in recent years. This has affected standards of service and timekeeping. However, it does now seem to be improving and the arrival of new aircraft should boost comfort.
