Dear Frequent Flyer,
Welcome to the new quarterly magazine format of the
Airguide for the Frequent Flyer. I can hardly
believe it has been six years since we started publishing
the Airguide annually and the Airguide Online
weekly at www.AirguideOnline.com and our team
began roaming the planet in search of all the best in the
world of air travel.
Airguide is the result of a personal journey. I
was born during the dawn of the jet age with the BOAC
Comets and started flying regularly at a very young age.
Global travel has changed enormously since I started
flying as a young boy. I can safely say I have flown on
almost every imaginable airline and commercial aircraft
since. For decades I have taken almost every flight and
class from supersonic to no frills or commuter airlines
and eaten filet mignon with great wines or absolutely
nothing except maybe some stale peanuts. This experience
developed in me a passion and curiosity for air travel. I
felt the need for a publication focused on air travel
essential in this present climate of confusion, created
by so much choice when planning a voyage.
Trotting the globe is not as easy as it used to be, and
the last two years have been bumpy, even for seasoned
business travelers. We went from two years ago, with busy
airports and overbooked flights, to the events of fall
2001. Followings these events were the bankruptcies of
several airlines, and the changes were dramatic, and in
many cases permanent. The crowds left, airlines reduced
flights, and prices fell back into the realistic range.
We have also seen the psychology of flying changed from
each passenger being selfish to one of team spirit. Air
transport and travel professionals have responded to this
new environment with a host of changes and enhancements
to keep our lives on the road safe, sane and
productive.
Our goal at Airguide Magazine and Airguide Online
is to provide you with indispensable information on all
the world's airlines and airports from check-in to check
out. We are dedicated to air travel and designed to
provide the knowledge and information to turn the rather
mundane routine of air travel to a smoother and
pleasurable experience, where you enjoy the process
rather than suffer through it. As you can see in the
following pages, the smartest airlines are responding to
your needs with more legroom and comforts to keep you
happy and loyal.
This issue of the Airguide begins with the latest
air travel news, travel advice and the What's Hot and
What's Not section. We feature an overview of the
various airline classes, flight and food reviews,
Internet travel sites and the services of the world's
major airlines from A to Z. We follow that with our
survey of airline seating in all classes. The last
section in the magazine contains quick reference tables
to enable you to compare some of the services provided by
the air carriers.
Our next issue will feature a survey on frequent flyer
and fidelity programs by Airguide 's seasoned
international team, plus feature articles in a section
called Inside Air Travel. We survey all year the
world's airlines and airports, including all the services
and classes they offer, including flights, seating, food,
on board entertainment, airport lounges and of course
their frequent flyer programs. We also feature lots of
passenger input about their likes and dislikes, to bring
our audience the most complete air travel information
available in the world.
www.AirguideOnline.com is the magazine's online
source for global air travel. In addition to all the
content found in the magazine, Airguide Online is
updated weekly, giving you international airline and
travel news, the latest deals, feature articles, detailed
practical information, telephone numbers, and lots of
useful We b links. The topics featured in our articles
include private jet charter versus flying first class, no
frills airlines, sky rage, safety, Internet bookings,
mobile phones, hotels, car rentals, ways to mix business
and pleasure, health tips, the latest data on putting jet
lag to rest, and much more.
Thank you for reading, and for sending us all your
invaluable input. I hope you will be pleased with our new
format and that we will make your next trip more
civilized. We will look forward to your visit at
www.AirguideOnline.com providing you with even
more about air travel and don't forget to sign up for our
Airguide Newsletter to receive the latest news,
deals, flight and food reviews. If you have any
questions, comments or suggestions, please send me an
e-mail or drop me a line. Bon voyage!
