LAUDA AIR
Economy Class

Kuala Lumpur to Sydney
Lunch: "Salad was very plain made up of cherry tomato, shredded carrots, lettuce with a vinaigrette with balsamic and olive oil sauce (not nice at all - very bland). Main course was chat potatoes, fish topped with capsicum (baked) steamed vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, carrots. The fish was tender and nice! rest was bland. For desert: buns with custard sauce topped with a soft chocolate covering, very nice. The bun was warm, not too hard, not as nice as SAS. Average meal, better than most though."
Dinner: "Fruit - chopped fruit salad made up of watermelon, pineapple, pear, rock melon, kiwi fruit and one large grape (seeds inside). Sweet - blueberry muffin, not moist but certainly not dry. Main - a bun (very dry and bland but still edible) chock full of butter, double cheese (not really flavorsome), ham, tomatoes (thin slice) and finely diced spring onions. Average, full of carbohydrates."

Vienna to Amsterdam
Lunch: Chicken Paprikash with rice and coconut cake. "Lauda's food always seems to please. The chicken was done to a turn and the Hungarian sauce was pleasantly spicy and definitely brought Budapest to mind. And although I'm no great fan of coconut, the cake was very good, indeed. They even managed to keep the rice hot and fluffy, which is no mean feat. The coffee, by the way, was just about the best I've ever had in the air."

LOT POLISH AIRLINES
Economy Class

Warsaw to Amsterdam
Dinner: Rice, Spinach and some unidentified ragout, served with a tomato/cucumber salad (incl.
dressing) and bread, plus the usual beverages. "Looked nice, tasted quite flat though... The rice was OK, the spinach was a bit too well-done. the ragout-thing (with some unidentified kind of meat) was
totally tasteless. That's why they probably served it with a slice of lemon to give it at least a lemon taste... The tomato and cucumber salad was nice, but small. The cabin crew was a bit too late with the bread. But they served it with a big smile (which is worth a LOT!). Nice surprise was the dessert, which was served with a cup of tea: a Polish/LOT Candy bar (Chocolate filled with hazelnut cream)."

LUFTHANSA GERMAN AIRLINES
Business Class

Düsseldorf to New York Newark (Flight operated by Privatair)
Lunch: "Matjes herring terrine and matjes herring fillet with sweet and sour cucumbers and
chive cream. Salad of frisee, radicchio, arugula and radishes with herbed mustard dressing. Cheese selection: appenzeller, Bavarian blue, camembert and grapes with Duval Leroy fleur de champagne brut. Very good appetizers, made especially by by jorg muller of sol ring of restaurant for the "star chef" program. Main course is served separately. I love herrings, therefore I found it very good with a smoky flavor, quite Scandinavian. The sweet sour cucumbers add a new note."
Second meal: "Quiche with leeks and chanterelle mushrooms on a bed of seasonal greens with
tomato-thyme sauce. Zabaione cake with liquor and Duval Leroy brut de champagne. Coffee was good good espresso coffee so nice I had two. Creamy and strong! Pralines (one strawberry, one chocolate) and small chocolate egg. Good and warm, I just wished it could have been bigger. Unfortunately no second serving because this was the preferred choice of most of the passengers (they ran out of it). The other choice was fillet of hache with herbs."

Frankfurt to London LHR
Lunch Snack: Salami Sandwich "Crusty and dry."

Milan Malpensa to Düsseldorf
Breakfast/snack: "Taste Europe" new concept. Italian breakfast of frittata with wild herbs, salame milano, ham, fruit salad with whipped cream, rolls, croissants with Colombian coffee, tea, freshly squeezed orange juice, sparkling wine. "Same ol' same ol' from milano. Cold and quick for 1 hour hop. Much better the hot lunch from Munich to Naples. All in all, good, especially the warm
bread and croissants."

Tokyo Narita to Munich
Movie Snack between main meal services: Small cakes "Choice of delicious small cakes served 2 hrs
after the first meal as movie snack. Part of a choice of sandwiches, o-nigiri and fresh fruits. Great service!"

London LHR to Dusseldorf
Breakfast lunch (snack): "The white lump was similar to a mousse/cream with nice herbs; cheeses; pecan and other spreadables for the variety of croissants and warm breads that were offered. Some fruits on the side and a glass of tea. A really fantastic snack that was better than I
thought. Lufthansa recently redid their business class and I think it is called a "Taste of European". The whole service was efficient, clean and it was just great."

Los Angeles to Frankfurt
Dinner: Veal, salad, and more later on "Very nice and light, for airline food. It was
some of the best food I have eaten on a plane."

Helsinki to Frankfurt
Breakfast: "A hot breakfast, served on LH designed set and cutlery. Very nice, actually. The breakfast was with a choice; either a small omelette or crepes. Omelette was accompanied with bacon, slice of cheese and a drop of sauce. Warm bread (rolls, croissants) were served twice during the meal. For dessert, there was a fruit salad. Coffee, tea and drinks followed."

Economy Class

Newark to Frankfurt
Breakfast: Ham and cheese sandwich (very !! small) with orange juice and coffee. "The breakfast was very poor."
Dinner: Salad, desert, two choice (chicken or vegetarian pasta) with red wine. "It was ok."

Munich to San Francisco
Dinner: Vegetarian meal with pilaff, mushrooms, green salad with hazelnut(!) dressing, fruit
salad. Note the weird tomato pate for the bun with tomato juice to cut the taste of the tomato pate.
"Served with statuesque efficiency. Did I mention the weird tomato pate?"

Houston to Frankfurt
Breakfast: "Unfortunately, I didn't think to remove the foil lid from my heated container to show everyone the thing that passed for a Western omelette."
