SAS - SCANDINAVIAN AIRLINES SYSTEMS
Economy Class

Copenhagen to Oslo
Dinner: Salami Sandwich, Beetroot Chips and orange juice.

London LHR to Copenhagen
Dinner: Two slices of salmon over potatoes and dill sauce. Bread roll and piece of chocolate
offered on the side. "Delicious!"

Bergen to Copenhagen
Snack: A bag full of juice, cupcake and soda. "Simple, I especially liked the design of the
cup and bag."

Oslo to London LHR
Mid afternoon: Loads and loads of ham, and some sort of potato salad. "Ok, I suppose - the peas were cold."

Stockholm to London LHR
Lunch: two Salmon Steaks, with potatoes, onion and celery. Plus a (hot) roll (with Lurpak butter), and a chocolate sweet type thing. White Bordeaux (Chateau de Mirambeau) with Whisky & Tomato Juice chaser. Plus Aquad'or water on the tray, sachet of milk, and a cup of what was reportedly
coffee, but which came with globules of tar. "Well this meal look superb. Full marks to SAS for presentation. Alas the actual content was woeful , one of the worst meals I've had on SAS in a long time. I couldn't wait to get stuck in... only to find that the whole thing had been refrigerated to minus something very cold. I had to crunch through ice on the salmon, which had seen much better days. Meanwhile my knife shattered on the potatoes they were so hard. As for the weird celery mix that come with it... yuck! The roll itself had been superheated and hence rebaked, so it was equally solid, but at least hot, so I could warm up the fish on it. Be warned that SAS does not offer alternatives... if you don't like what's on the plane - tough. Nice chocolate though. One tip I've found with SAS... the wine is offered with a terrible plastic glass - but there is a real glass glass on the tray, so you're better off using that. Also - have a look at the inscription on the pepper - it reads "Pepper - the gift
of the east, though gift means "poison" in Swedish. But don't let that put you off". That's either very funny, or very true!

Bangkok to Singapore
Dinner: "Salad, containing parsley, cous cous, olives, cucumber, lettuce, tomato, capsicum in a light cream vinaigrette. Main course containing string beans, a rich sauce with fish and noodles. Desert was a sponge "cake" with a sweet top and crusted with a light, rich cream custard sauce. Snack: Crispy rice snacks, drinks, choice, for me a red French Merlot and a bottled water. Excellent meal for only a two hour flight, SAS again exceed expectations."

Copenhagen to Geneva
Lunch: Herring salad, Roasted chicken on pasta bed, Danish cheese with bread.

SAUDI ARABIAN AIRLINES
First Class

Manila to Riyadh
Refreshments: Mixed nuts, orange juice. "Fancy plate for the nuts which were acceptable, the orange juice was freshly squeezed."
Appetizer: Smoked Salmon, Tabulae Salad, herb cream cheese, greens and two types of Bread. "The meals in First class on Saudi are served as an a la carte menu presenting first the appetizer, salad, soup on request, Entrees with accompaniments then deserts. Your choice of Bread from a veriety of five. Presentation was nice but the taste was not of First Class standards.
Salad and Soup (upon request): Seasonal garden vegetables, offered with choice of dressing (Herb yoghurt was selected). "Salad was semi frozen as it was packed from it's first leg flight (Saudi to Manila)."
Entrees: Chicken Breast Mousakhan (from a choice of Baked Lapu Lapu, Grilled Fillet Steak, Stir-fried Prawns) with Chateau potatoes, courgettes and French beans (from a selection of Steamed white rice or pasta in tomato sauce coated with cheese). "Chicken was delicious but slightly dry. Potatoes were good."
Desserts: Mixed Fruits (Selection of Chocolate and Vanilla Ice cream and Apple cheesecake. Hot beverages (Coffee, Tea, Mint tea, Cappachino, Espresso, Hot chocolate) "Fruits were not as fresh as mentioned on the menu."

SINGAPORE AIRLINES
Business Class

Taipei, Taiwan to Singapore
Breakfast: Taiwanese style glutinous rice with pork and dried shrimp wrapped in a banana leaf. Orange juice and coffee. "Ick! I was being adventuresome but I could not eat it. It tasted fatty and very fishy. I'm not used to eating such things for breakfast."
Brunch: Hong Kong roast pork with steamed rice wrapped in a banana leaf. (Ordered from Singapore
Air's "Book the Cook" menu online.) with champagne. "Steward told me that this had pork belly in it.
It was very greasy. On my first trip to Asia I wanted to try Asian foods but some of it was too different. I ate very little of this." Brunch second choice: Pan fried fillet of beef in a sauce of red, black and green pepper with roast potatoes and garden vegetables. "The vegetable were wonderful, not overcooked. The beef was very tender however the pepper sauce was a bit over powering."

Los Angeles to Taipei, Taiwan
Breakfast: Breakfast starter was a selection of fresh fruit. "Sweet and tasty. "Cheese omelette with veal sausage, grilled tomato and roasted potatoes with orange juice and coffee. "Omelette tasted like it had just been made, 10 hours into the flight. Potatoes were a bit soggy."
Dinner: Appetizer with spiced scallops with eggplant puree and basil balsamic dressing. "Scallops melted in your mouth and the main course was Seafood thermidor with shrimp, scallops, snapper in a thermidor sauce with rice, asparagus tips, and sweet potato. Vegetables were still slightly crisp, and seafood was fresh. Next, a selection of cheese and fresh fruit was served for dessert. I had strawberries, kiwi, and a persimmon."
Dinner: Fish fillet baked in a banana leaf, with linguini and shiitake mushrooms. Ordered using Singapore Air's "Book the Cook". "The fish was excellent but the sauce really made this meal wonderful. I would order this in a restaurant."

SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS
First Class

Frankfurt to Johannesburg
Dinner: Appetizer was a platter of sushi, charcuterie, air-dried meats, pates, seafood, with various sauces. "The appetizer platter would have been a good meal by itself. Not only a good variety, but very tasty, topped off with a great mix of sauces, from wasabi to mustard to fruit sauces - I can honestly say the best in-flight meal service ever provided. (A half-point deduction since the purser pointed out, albeit quite apologetically, that 'customer surveys' indicated the passengers wanted one course removed from dinner service, and the caviar was deleted!)" Main Course: Veal loin stuffed with pate, duchesse potatoes, and green beans/chanterelles mix "One of the best in-flight meals ever....even better than Concorde service. Not only was the veal tender, but the accents of the pate made it quite memorable." Dessert: Crispy apple tart served with creme anglaise and fresh berries. "Yes at 35,000 feet, the tart tasted as if it had just been pulled from the oven. Well prepared creme and very fresh and tasty berries."

Dinner: Beef casserole served with sauteed mixed vegetables and roasted red potato wedge. "Very tasty meal for coach. Ice cream bar followed."

Johannesburg to Cape town
Breakfast: Scrambled egg, sausage, a half tomato, yoghurt, bread roll with orange juice. "Very nice presentation and the tray looks very updated. the entree is hot the egg tasted very good. Service is excellent on board this immaculate Boeing 737-800."

SWISS INTERNATIONAL AIR LINES
Business Class

Bangkok to Singapore
Dinner: Roll, Shrimp salad with vermicelli, lettuce and carrots. Tangy! Main consisted on
fried fish on brown rice. Unusual and tasty too. Fruit salad as dessert on tray with soft drink and wine optional. "Quite a big dish as starter! The main was smaller!"

Singapore to Bangkok
Dinner: "Starter was a election of tapas with a glass of Champagne Pol Roger Brut Reserve
Epernay. Tasted good. Main course was a roasted chicken breast with sautéed mushrooms, broccoli, Vicky carrots and potato purée accompanied by a red wine sauce and a glass of Champagne, plus Later, White Wine St. Éloi Aigle AOC Chablais Switzerland. "Food tastes good, friendly service."

Economy Class

Tel Aviv to Zurich
Children's Meal: Hamburger and fries, crackers, a cake, and a salad. "Soggy hamburger, with all the rest you cant go wrong."

Amsterdam to Zurich
Breakfast: Warm croissant (cheese baguettes were also offered). "Croissant had been heated in the oven too long, making it not as good as usual."

Zurich to Amsterdam
Dinner: Salmon baguette (there was a choice of cheese, ham or salmon). Fruit was offered as well. "Tasted good"

New York to Geneva
Breakfast: "A greasy small croissant, a stale cold roll, a banana. The most awful cheap tasteless tiny packet of sugary strawberry jam. A banana strawberry yoghurt. Swiss offers the worst continental breakfast of any transatlantic airline in economy. Why can't they just offer a blueberry muffin and a fruit salad; maybe warm the stale rolls and give some decent jam like the good cherry and apricot jam Alitalia serve. The coffee though was good but comes with cream. Can get milk but no skim milk, like on US airlines."
Dinner: "Penne pasta with a meat sauce. Horrible. On another flight they had no meat sauce. So they are now more generous. Bland salad with 1/2 a tomato, stale cold roll, laughing cow cheap cheese and a tiny but tasty apple cake the size of a matchbox. Swiss offer the most disgusting food of any airline on transatlantic routes in economy."

Geneva to New York
Lunch: Spaghetti with a weird sauce. Plain green salad and a small plum for desert. "Food not fit for my dog nor for human consumption. Spaghetti was greasy and tasteless. Salad was bland. Not even a tomato. Just lettuce. They ran out of cake; a tiny cheesecake with raspberry base the size of a matchbox. So I got a tiny baby plum instead. Swiss in economy offer the most disgusting inedible food served by any transatlantic airline."
Snack: "After a disgusting lunch, the snack at least was edible. Beef (viandes des grisons), peppers in an olive roll. Macaroon cookie. There was also a choice of a cheese sandwich but as usual they ran out."

Zurich to Copenhagen
Lunch: Salad with a jellied fish thing. Rice and vegetables and some kind of meat. "Not very nice."

Zurich to Osnabrück
Breakfast snack: You could choose a cheese sandwich, croissant, or Danish. "This is a one hour flight."

Munich to Zurich
Breakfast: "The breakfast was not bad, the orange juice was tasty and the croissant fresh made and warm. The little chocolate was delicious. Unfortunately they don't serve and coffee on this kind of flight in Economy class."
