Airport Overview
Started in 1929 as English Field, it changed its name in 1952 to Amarillo Air Terminal and in 1976 added "International" to its name. In 2003, after its native man Rick Husband, the NASA astronaut, died in the Columbia shuttle, it was renamed Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. In 2007 a new airport terminal was announced, construction starts in 2008 and finishes 2010. The airport terminal building renovation will expanded the facility offering improved passenger services, security, concession services and baggage claim operations.
