European Aviation has delivered a former Air Sri Lanka Airbus A340 aircraft to the established Maltese charter airline Air X. The plane has been converted by the specialist aviation engineering company at its facility in Bournemouth.
The layout consists of 100 electrically operated lie-flat seats in a 2+2+2 configuration across three cabins. The rear section features paired seats and two four-seat divans. It is ideal for a soccer team or a business group, the inaugural flight being a 70-strong birthday party to a Southern Africa destination from Stansted. The aircraft has an ultimate range of 15hr flight time.
The conversion was completed in just four months and a second aircraft has been acquired by European. With this plane there is a possibility of converting the rear galley area into a private bedroom suite complete with its own toilet facilities and shower.
European currently has a number of Boeing 737 aircraft which it owns and leases in an all executive configuration.
“Once again we have produced a wonderful aircraft in record time and this demonstrates what a great innovative team we have at European,” commented managing director Trevor Whetter. “The A340 is our largest ever aircraft and fits nicely into the Bournemouth scene, our soccer team in the Premier League and a new upmarket Hilton just opened in the centre of Bournemouth.” www.euroav.com
