Amtrak is providing travelers with a viable alternative to driving to the National Cherry Blossom Festival between March 15 and April 16.
Instead of dealing with Washington D.C. traffic and highway congestion, the rail company offers comfortable seats, food and beverage options, plus scenic views of the blossoms as travelers enter the capital.
When customers book at least 14 days in advance and purchase their tickets through Amtrak’s official website, they will be eligible to save 25 percent on trips to Washington, D.C. from cities including Richmond, Wilmington, Philadelphia and New York City.
Amtrak will boast several trains traveling to Washington Union Station for the festival including the Acela Express, Capitol Limited, Cardinal, Carolinian/Piedmont, Crescent, Northeast Regional, Silver Service/Palmetto and the Vermonter.
With Washington Union Station acting as the official headquarters of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the experience starts as soon as customers get off their trains in Washington, D.C.
In addition to the beautiful spectacle of the festival itself, other events during the festivities include the opening ceremony at the Warner Theatre March 25, the Blossom Kite Festival on the grounds of the Washington Monument April 1, the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade along Constitution Avenue April 8, and the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival April 15.
