Paris Air Show: Jet Aircraft Prices up Five to Six
Percent for 2007.
New York, June 26, 2007 - A week after a very exciting
Paris Air Show, AirGuideOnline.com
and AirGuideBusiness.com have compiled all the current
jet aircraft prices. This year the leading aircraft
manufacturers Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer have
raised their prices 5 to 6 percent instead of the
usual 3 to 4 percent due to higher costs of its raw
materials and energy.
Airlines and aircraft lessors never
pay the full list price for a plane, with significant
discounts for large orders, but the price increase
signals Boeing's intent to start negotiations at a
slightly higher level. At last week's Paris Air Show,
industry analysts said Boeing and rival Airbus were
discounting the prices of planes more heavily than usual
to secure key orders. A Boeing executive at the show said
the company was "happy with where we are at on pricing".
Boeing is enjoying strong demand for most of its planes,
and is sold out for delivery for the rest of this year
and 2008. Customers making orders now would have to wait
until 2014 for a 787.
Boeing has raised prices on its
commercial planes by almost 6 percent on average, as the
cost of its raw materials increases. Boeing said the
price increase was in line with the general inflation
rate for manufactured goods. Its hot-selling 787-8
Dreamliner, for example, is now listed at USD$157 million
to USD$167 million, depending on configuration. The
previous price range was USD$148 million to USD$157.5
million. More...
