Delta Air Lines said departures have resumed following an early morning power outage at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Aug 8. that impacted Delta’s computer systems and operations worldwide, affecting thousands of passengers.
A ground stop went into place after the outage but was lifted at 8:40 a.m. EST. The power outage began at 2:30 a.m. EST Aug. 8.
Delta said it canceled over 650 flights. As of 3:40 p.m. EST, Delta said it had operated 2,340 of its nearly 6,000 scheduled flights for the day.
Certain critical systems and network equipment did not switch over to Delta’s backup systems following the power loss, Delta said.
