Swann Galleries’ February 15 auction showcases images by iconic photographers such as Diane Arbus, Roy DeCarava, and Robert Frank. An archive related to romantic duo Alfred Stieglitz and Dorothy Norman features photographs by both, including images by Norman annotated with loving sentiments by Stieglitz.

Meanwhile, photographs of Stieglitz’s wife, Georgia O’Keeffe, include his own image of her hands, alongside a portrait by Ansel Adams. Photobooks include Emmet Gowin’s signed and inscribed Concerning America and Alfred Stieglitz, and Myself. Other portraits of artists include a suite of seven Yousuf Karsh images, including photographs of Picasso, Chagall and Miró, while a run of works by Lewis W. Hine, previously in the collection of Isador Sy Seidman, make their first appearance at auction.
